Freestanding sculptures: Floor anchors, weighted pedestals, or anti-tip mounting systems
These are planning categories, not universal weight ratings. The condition and construction of the wall can dramatically affect how much weight a mounting system can safely support.
Whenever possible, use multiple attachment points to distribute the load and prevent the artwork from rotating or pulling away from the wall.
Don't Rely Only on the Anchor's Weight Rating
An anchor's advertised capacity doesn't automatically mean it can safely support artwork of that weight.
Ratings depend on factors such as wall material, installation depth, load direction, mounting geometry, and substrate condition.
A flat metal panel sitting close to a wall creates different forces than a deep sculpture projecting several inches outward. Accidental contact, doors closing, building vibration, and other movement can also place additional stress on the mounting system.
For heavy, overhead, public-facing, or unusually valuable installations, professional load verification may be appropriate.
The goal isn't simply to find a screw rated for the artwork's weight. It's to create a complete mounting system with an adequate safety margin.
Prepare the Wall and Installation Area
Before lifting the artwork, prepare the site.
Confirm studs and wall construction and check for electrical wiring and plumbing before drilling. Clear enough room for installers to safely maneuver the piece and protect nearby floors, furniture, doors, and trim.
Mark mounting locations with painter's tape and verify the level and surrounding clearances before installing hardware.

A perfectly level installation isn't useful if a nearby door swings directly into the artwork.
Consider Lighting

Careful fixture positioning can reduce glare and highlight the texture and dimensional qualities of the piece. Warm-colored metals often look best under warmer lighting, while reflective pieces may require additional experimentation with fixture angle and distance.

Protect Outdoor Metal Art From Corrosion
Outdoor installations introduce additional challenges including rain, snow, irrigation, humidity, UV exposure, freeze-thaw cycles, and road contaminants.
